More than a decade ago I was involved in exposing part of the MP’s expenses scandal, particularly relating to former Labour MP for Waveney, Bob Blizzard who did such things as buying a washing machine in Lowestoft and claiming it was for his MP’ flat in London…
Yesterday I referred Clacton MP Nigel Farage to the parliamentary Commissioner for Standards after he falsely claimed to the BBC that the two cryptocurrency billionaires who each gave £36 million to Reform would ‘not benefit’ from Reform policies.
This was untrue as in March 2025 Nigel Farage himself announced a Reform cryptocurrency policy which would give a massive tax cuts to cryptocurrency billionaires, reducing capital Gains Tax on cryptocurrency trading from 24% down to just10%.
What that means is that either of these cryptocurrency billionaires only needs to do more than £257 million of trading to ‘pay’ for their £36 million donation to Reform and start profiting from it.
However, the Reform Party have now sought to hide that policy – removing it from the policies section of their website, while Nigel Farage himself has now (14 September) falsely claimed to the BBC that the policy is only about “regulating” cryptocurrency and the two cryptocurrency billionaires who just donated £36 million each to Reform will “not benefit” from it.
That matters because Nigel Farage was already under investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner for failing to – and continuing to refuse to register a £5 million ‘gift’ he received from one of those billionaires, Christopher Harborne 3 months before the General Election.
Parliamentary rules require new MPs to register ALL financial transactions over £300 in the 12 months before they were elected.
Nigel Farage has – and continues to refuse to do that claiming the £5 million was a personal gift unrelated to his political activities
He even forced a by-election in his Clacton constituency to try to stymie the investigation into this Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.
However, the fact that less than 12 months after he received this £5 million and only nine months after becoming an MP Nigel Farage himself announced this Reform policy of massive tax cuts for cryptocurrency billionaires like Mr Harborne – and has even now admitted discussing the policy with him – means that whatever thin ice Nigel Farage thought he was standing on simply does not exist – he clearly had no choice but to register the £5 million from Mr Harborne, a cryptocurrency billionaire in March last year when he announced the Reform would a) massive tax cuts for cryptocurrency billionaires like Mr Harborne b) that Reform would become the only UK political party to accept donations in cryptocurrency.
However, Mr Farage STILL refuse to list the £5 million in the register of MPs interests AND has now falsely claimed Reform’s policy will not benefit cryptocurrency billionaires like Mr Harborne and is just about “regulating” cryptocurrency trading – AND Reform has now has sought to hide the original policy – removing it from its website.
THAT’S WHY I REFERRED NIGEL FARAGE TO THE PARLIMENTARY STANDARDS COMMISIONER
